Take care

Keep the foot off the knee joint.

How it is done

  1. 1

    Breathe freely

Stand in Tadasana and shift the weight to the left foot.

  2. 2

    Breathe in

Place the right sole on the inner left calf or thigh, never on the knee.

  3. 3

    Breathe freely

Bring the palms together at the chest or overhead. Stay for several breaths, then change sides.

Holding it

Several breaths on each side.

Making it easier

Rest the toes on the floor with the heel on the ankle, or stand beside a wall.

What the tradition says it does

  • Builds balance and steadiness
  • Strengthens the standing leg

As our source describes it. This is not a medical claim.
